The Story of Blackwell. In the late 1800s, farmers for miles would bring their wheat to be milled at the Blackwell Flour Mill, which became one of the largest and oldest wooden structures in Oklahoma. It survived the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl, and helped many in Western Oklahoma do the same by supplying bread to the hungry.
The Blackwell Flour Mill was shuttered in 2005, but Timber & Beam stepped in to reclaim the building’s materials instead of it simply being torn down and discarded. A few key relics from the site are now on display in the Tulsa City Museum. The beautiful doorway beams in the new Timber & Beam showroom are also from the Blackwell Flour Mill.
